Apriso Webcast – Bridging the Gap between the Virtual World of PLM and the Real World of MES

Who:  Industry veteran Dr. Michael Grieves, author of Product Lifecycle Management: Driving the Next Generation of Lean Thinking, will present how the value of a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) is greatly enhanced when its data is incorporated within a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) program.  Apriso’s FlexNet platform enables this functionality through its seamless integration with ERP.

What:  This web-based presentation will be broadcast live, demonstrating how the digital manufacturing world of PLM benefits by incorporating a feedback loop between PLM and MES. Through this process it is possible to readily observe differences between what was conceptualized during initial design and what was actually built, to then take corrective and preventative actions for continuous improvement design processes.

Dr. Grieves will discuss how data collected globally from the ‘real’ world during production from each factory and production line can then be transferred to the CAD drawings and digital design of the ‘virtual’ world in product development, to create a feedback loop that globally benefits manufacturers. By providing continuous data from operations, manufacturers can optimize PLM initiatives – especially global organizations with distributed operations and product design locations. This feedback process is highly beneficial for those manufacturers needing quick design optimization cycles when competing in fast moving markets such as electronics and technology.
