Apriso Earns 2008 Manufacturing Innovation Insight Award
Firm recognized for innovative global process management solution enabling creation, distribution and management of global manufacturing operations
(LONG BEACH, CA – August 28, 2008) – Apriso, a leading provider of adaptive software solutions for global Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM), today announced recognition for providing an innovative solution for global process management by Manufacturing Business Technology magazine. Apriso demonstrated creative use of information technology to solve real business problems faced by Volvo Construction Equipment (CE), the Brussels-based division of Volvo Group. Apriso FlexNet®, a software-based solution to establish, execute and maintain global manufacturing processes across operations, helps accelerate Continuous Improvement, Lean and other process improvement strategies for enhanced operations performance.
Volvo CE is using FlexNet to achieve complete integration between production and supply chain operations on a global basis. The first step involved creating a central repository, or “Center of Excellence,” representing a collection of best practices or profile for a “Perfect Plant.” Once this set of processes has been established, FlexNet offers an efficient mechanism for the global distribution of these identified best practices. As processes are improved, updates can be automatically distributed. The end result is a series of Perfect Plants, working collaboratively to improve the global standardization, performance and governance of best practice business processes.
“In selecting the Innovation Award winners, we looked for companies that were using information technology to significantly improve processes related to designing, building and delivering products,” said Sidney Hill, executive editor of Manufacturing Business Technology. “The list of entries—and obviously the final list of winners—proved that the spirit of innovation is alive and well in the manufacturing and distribution sector.”
“Manufacturers face a dichotomy of increasing standardization across locations, while at the same time supporting unique business processes necessary at a particular plant,” commented Jim Henderson, president and CEO of Apriso. “Award winning systems support both objectives, by incorporating simplicity into the management of business processes, which then enables updates to be made frequently, in real time, across the entire global enterprise.”
Apriso brings significant industry experience of global best practices to each customer. The company is active in multiple industry verticals within discrete, process and hybrid manufacturing models, so a wealth of experience is “on tap,” helping customers like Volvo CE to establish and distribute their global manufacturing operations best practices.
