The FlexNet Platform: Improve Agility to Embrace Change and Achieve Manufacturing Excellence

Adaptive manufacturing is more than just a buzzword. It is the key to unlocking manufacturing excellence in a rapidly changing business environment. The FlexNet platform gives you a foundation for a comprehensive solution to address this challenge. Its architecture empowers you to implement and continuously improve manufacturing processes quickly, smoothly and efficiently across complex, global operations while at the same time reducing IT costs and improving efficiency.

All FlexNet products including Production, Warehouse, Quality, Maintenance, Labor and others are built on the same FlexNet platform, providing a unified solution for manufacturing operations management. Unlike a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) or a Logistics Execution System (LES), which tend to focus on individual operations or machinery within the "silo" of operations at a single plant, FlexNet delivers a comprehensive, enterprise MES solution ideal for global operations. By integrating each of your operations related to production, the arrival of raw materials and the distribution of finished goods, it is possible to synchronize your global manufacturing operations into a cohesive system capable of delivering world class manufacturing excellence.

Implement FlexNet as a foundation for manufacturing transformation to achieve continuous quality improvement, efficiently address regulatory compliance initiatives and globally standardize best practices. That's the essence of sustained manufacturing excellence. That's the essence of Apriso's FlexNet platform.

Apriso's FlexNet comprises a global manufacturing operations management suite of applications.

Standards-based for lower IT costs
The FlexNet platform is built on an open, standards-based technology based on XML, EDI, BPEL, S95, S88, IDOCs, HTML and OPC. FlexNet utilizes widely adopted programming language or software wherever possible, including C# and Visual Studio .NET for development, Microsoft and Oracle for database technology and Internet Explorer for browsers. FlexNet is equipment agnostic; therefore it supports a wide range of display sizes and equipment vendors.

Business Process Management (BPM) for adaptability
FlexNet's embedded or "native" Business Process Management (BPM) architecture let you quickly configure business processes to meet the requirements of your manufacturing update your processes as often as needed to respond quickly to changing business conditions. Unlike traditional business systems that tend to be rigid and difficult to modify, FlexNet is a highly dynamic, real-time operations system, so you can readily adjust it to meet changing local and corporate requirements.

Unified data for global consistency
The FlexNet platform, and each application within it, shares a unified data model to correlate data and processes across your manufacturing operations, from receiving to production and from plant maintenance to quality. As a result, you have a "single version of the truth," a synchronized and coordinated flow of information for greater accuracy and tighter control over disparate manufacturing processes. This global view of manufacturing is essential to achieving and sustaining manufacturing excellence.

Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) for end-to-end excellence
FlexNet is built on a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), allowing it to participate in end-to-end business workflows involving not just FlexNet, but other external systems such as ERP, SCM, PLM, shop-floor control and data acquisition (SCADA), among others. Thus, you can achieve the highest level of manufacturing excellence by connecting manufacturing operations to engineering and planning functions, using end-to-end business processes that can be tracked, traced and continuously improved.
